The Dingman-Delaware Middle School provides extensive school-counseling for social-emotional, academic, and behavioral concerns that may arise for students. Our school counselors are available to assist students to build productive work habits and help in conflict resolutions with behavioral and academic strategies. The goal is to provide students with positive role modeling and experiences that promote individual growth and support in their daily lives. Our counselors deliver a Comprehensive Program to all students in grades 6 through 8 in a manner that meets the developmental needs of the student. This program contributes to the overall academic success, career goal setting, and personal/social development of each student. The program is delivered through individual counseling, group counseling, consultation, and coordination. It includes such topics as grades/study skills, individual planning in career exploration, decision-making, personal responsibility, and personal health/safety. Students may see the school counselor through student self referral, teacher referral, parent referral, counselor request, administrator request, and/or nurse's request. Students may see the counselor for many issues including problem-solving by exploring alternatives to make the appropriate decisions, developing positive attitudes to self and others, establishing personal goals, career information, and developing educational plans based on individual interests. In addition, our counselors may refer students and their families to other outside programs/agencies for other resources or services such as other district and community resources and services, special education services, and safe and drug free programs.
