Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The Student Assistance Program was initiated in the Delaware Valley School District in 1989. It is a confidential program to help students who may be at risk. The goal of the program is to help the student achieve success at school. Those at-risk behaviors may include problems with academics, attendance, discipline, drug and alcohol issues, or mental health issues (eating disorders, depression, suicidal issues). A student enters the program by being referred by a parent, sibling, teacher, counselor, nurse, administrator, friend, or by a self-referral. Students are automatically referred if they have violated the drug and alcohol or weapons policy or if they have been involved in a fight. The end result of the referral process, if warranted, can be an intervention with the student, the student's parent(s)/guardian(s), and members of the team.
To participate in the SAP process, there is a parental consent form. You must fill out and return part 2; otherwise the SAP process cannot continue. You may fill it out, attach it, and email it to your child's counselor instead of printing it out, if easier)
