    Special Education Overview

The Delaware Valley School District offers a full continuum of services and students attend classes in each of the seven buildings in the district as determined by their needs. The District presents a wide range of in-service programs to staff members and parents. Levels of intervention are based on student need and are determined by the IEP team.

    Instruction

Teachers utilize modifications and adaptations to ensure effective instruction for all students that addresses the wide range of student learning styles and individual needs.

    Intervention

A collaborative effort is given to provide each child with effective interventions in the least restrictive environment from kindergarten through graduation. Opportunities are available for students with moderate to severe disabilities to participate in the general education environment to the maximum extent possible as determined by the IEP team. This is a comprehensive effort, involving all the people familiar with the child, including parents, school psychologists, regular and special education teachers, counselors, related service providers, administrators, outside consultants, and the student, when appropriate.
