Student Spotlight - Josh Balcarcel

Josh Balcarcel, a junior at Delaware Valley High School, wants to be seen and recognized as an all-around student athlete.

"I want people to know me as hardworking in the classroom and on the athletic field," he said. "I want to contribute to the successes of my sports teams, while staying humble in the classroom."

Josh is a member of the varsity football and lacrosse teams.  As a sophomore, he earned the Offensive Player of the Year award and led the team with 94 total points (goals and assists).  He is also the first ever lacrosse player at DV to reach 100 goals by his sophomore year.

"Being involved has allowed me to become better in both the classroom and on the field," he said.  "Being part of varsity sports has taught me discipline and showed me the responsibilities of being a Warrior."

Josh is the junior class president, and he volunteers for the Day of Caring, Special Olympics and various youth sporting camps/events.

"Volunteering has provided me the opportunity to give back to my community and made me reflect and realize that I should appreciate the opportunities given to me, " Josh said.
