Special Education Letter to Parents
We hope this letter finds you and your family well. No one could have predicted the current, unprecedented state that we are facing. During this time, we wanted to reach out to you all to know that we are working on plans on how to continue to educate your children, our students. Since the day the Governor mandated schools be closed, school staff have been researching and experimenting with various methods of remote learning. Your child’s case manager should have reached out to you by now to discuss various ways in which your child’s instruction can be delivered that are meaningful and appropriate, when the district moves to a distance learning model.
Dr. Bell will be providing updates via all-calls, the district website, and on social media however if you have questions specific to your child’s program, please contact your child’s case manager. They will be able help answer any concerns and provide you with information. They will be checking their email daily.
On the back of this letter, we have included some resources for you to use with your children if you are looking to engage them in additional educational activities. Many educational websites are offering free subscriptions during this time as well.
The Special Education team values education and we value your child. We understand the challenges school closure has caused and want to do our part in ensuring your child has equal access to learning. We also appreciate the expanded role that has been thrust upon parents and we want to be a support for you as well. Thank you for your continued cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of our students, staff and communities.
Yours in education,
The Special Education Administrative Team
