2019-2020 Administrative Changes

2019-20 Administrative Changes

Many thanks to Dr. Vives and Mrs. Olsen

Dr. Gina Vives, director of curriculum and technology, will retire this summer.  We want to thank Dr. Vives for her 25+ years of exemplary service to Delaware Valley!

Victoria (Vicki) McNeely will leave the principalship at DDES to replace Dr. Vives at the district office.  Vito Qualia, who has been a long-time principal at Wyoming Area, will become the principal at DDES replacing Mrs. McNeely.  Mr. Qualia was an English teacher at DVHS from 1993-99 prior to becoming an administrator elsewhere.

Mary Olsen will be retiring as supervisor of special education in October.  Mrs. Olsen has served as an instructional assistant, teacher and educational consultant in the special education department prior to becoming the supervisor in 2017.  We will miss her expertise, passion and commitment to our special education programs.

Cheryl Nielsen will become the supervisor of special education replacing Mrs. Olsen. Mrs. Nielsen taught at Wallenpaupack for 12 years before coming to Delaware Valley in 2015.  She has been the educational consultant in the special education department working under Mrs. Olsen since 2017.

Diana Bixby and Aaron Weston will switch positions.  Mrs. Bixby will move from principal of Shohola Elementary to principal of special education at the high school, a position she formerly held for ten years prior to moving to Shohola.  Mr. Weston will switch from the high school to Shohola.  He was formerly the principal of DVES prior to moving to the high school.  Thus, both are going home in a sense.

We are sorry to see Gina Vives and Mary Olsen retire but wish them all the best in retirement.  We thank them for their decades of dedication to the students of DV.
