    From the Library:

    Student Information

    Library Hours

The library is open from 7:45AM - 3:00PM every day.  Most days you may also drop off materials on the way to the bus at dismissal time.

General Rules of Conduct:  Follow the DV Five

    • Everyone is treated with kindness and respect.
    • No one will interfere with the learning of another person.
    • Everyone works quietly.  If you exhibit inappropriate behavior you will be asked to leave and you may be restricted from using the library for several days.

    Important Information

You may come to the library on your way in from the bus or during the time before homeroom begins; however, you must be to homeroom on time.  Once homeroom begins you must have a pass to come to the library.

Students coming to the library must have their handbook signed by the teacher who sent them.  Upon arrival at the library, the student must sign in at the circulation desk.  Students must sign in and out when they visit the library on an individual basis.  You do not have to sign in when you come with a class.

You may come to the library during lunch, but you need to get a pass from the library.  Ten library lunch passes are permitted each day: first come, first serve.  On some days, lunch passes will not be available.

Any student who is disruptive to the learning of others will be sent back to their classroom, with the teacher receiving notice of the problem.  If a student does not use their library time responsibly, he or she may lose library privileges for a specified time period.

    Circulation Policies

Items are checked out for two weeks at a time.  Usually, students may check out three materials at a time.  You may check out more than 3 items if you need them for a special project or some other reason – just check with the librarian.

You will be charged a fine of 10¢ per day per item for overdue materials (no fines charged for weekends, holidays, etc).  You will not be charged a fine if you are absent, but you must tell a librarian so we can remove those fines. Please renew materials if you need them longer.  If you do not think you have time to come to the library to renew or check out materials, stop by in the morning, between classes, on the way to lunch, etc.  We will write you a pass to class if needed.

Students are responsible for borrowed items.  Always return materials on time or renew them.  All books being returned are to be put in the book drop slot (on the side of the circulation desk).  If a book is not placed in the drop slot (just left on the counter) and is then taken by someone else, the student who checked the book out is responsible.  Damage charges, lost book charges, or fines must be paid before other materials can be checked out and before you may use the library again.  You may not receive your report card if you have outstanding library obligations. If a book is lost, the student must pay for the book so a replacement can be purchased.

You may use Destiny, our library’s automated catalog, at any time.  Ask permission before using other

programs or the Internet.  Internet use is for school projects.  You must know your ID and

    password to log on.
